I recently came across a quote by Michael Baisden, which says: “You can never make the same mistake twice. Because the second time you make it, it’s not a mistake, it’s a choice.”
When I read this a light bulb went off in my head. I think I knew this but needed to be reminded about choices. From the time we awake every morning until we lay down to sleep, everything we do is a choice. Even when we choose nothing, we still choose. It is no secret I have struggled with my weight most of my adult life. When I chose to eat correctly and exercise I was able to lose weight and keep it off. Not eating right and not exercising is a choice, not a mistake. By continuing to make the choices I do I continue to maintain an unhealthy lifestyle. This is a prime example of not making the same mistake twice.
Initially, when I gained weight it was a mistake, but knowing the right things to do and choosing not to eat right and exercise is my choice. I need to ask myself why I make these choices.
This theory can be proven time and time again in all aspects of our lives. When reading this I am sure you can identify at least one area where you continue to make the same choice over and over again. We have the power to choose differently if we want to. The question is do we really want to change and make different choices.
