I hear it from people all the time, “I hate that it is raining.” It really is just about perspective. Some people think their day is ruined and their mood is dreary as they perceive the day itself. But, for me, a rainy day represents a chance to slow down, reflect and just be in my space. I have always loved a rainy day.
In my world the rainy day is a way for nature to let you know it’s okay to rest and be in your own space. I love the sound of the rain on the windows in the early morning hours before I rise from my bed. Actually, the sound and dreariness of the outside gives me permission to linger in my bed and enjoy the moment. The rain gives me permission to stay in my pajamas longer, read a good book or spend hours in my craft room. I don’t remember a time when I was not excited about a gentle rain and the grayness of the day.
So the next time you encounter a dreary, rainy day, give yourself permission to slow down and enjoy the slowness of the moment. We spend too much time planning our days, that we forget to just enjoy our days and let the day take us where we need to go.
